What can you expect of me

Where can I be hired to shoot?

Currently I’m situated in Budapest, Hungary, but I am available to travel all around the country, also to Bulgaria and the rest of the European union.

If I need use my own transport, I add €0.25 per kilometer (if I travel by car). In case of a plane flight, I add the travel expenses to my offer (including the taxi trips to and from the airport). It’s possible that you can have a relative to take me with their car, which will spare you the car/taxi expenses.

Our first meeting

We will plan a meeting at a comfortable place where we will discuss the way you envision your wedding. We will get to know each other and I will get a sense of how I can capture your individual way of loving each other.

I would advise that we meet again to optimize the timetable before you book a time slot for makeup and hairstyle artists, church and civil ceremony. The goal is that we avoid the stress of insufficient time to travel between locations, exposing all the guests under a blazing sun for an extended duration and also to pick a time for the creative shoot when the sun isn’t scorching and unflattering.

Consultation

We will schedule a meeting up to 1 week before your wedding so we can discuss the final details. There I’ll share with you tips and ideas how to avoid surprises which can sour your mood. I will assist you in shedding off the organizational stress and I’ll show you what you can do so you like better what you see on the photos / video.

My style

I strive to remain inconspicuous and to give you space to be yourselves, and to forget that I’m there. I seek points of view as if through the eyes of your friends and relatives. I want you to feel like you’re seeing through their eyes.

I won’t ask you to do unnatural poses or to do anything unusual for you so that you can feel comfortable, calm and able to enjoy each-other’s company.

The creative photo/videoshoot on the wedding day

We will dedicate 1-2 hours of the wedding day for a creative shoot, which is about you alone or with your best man and maid of honour.

This is the only time I’ll guide you where we should go and what you can do for a satisfying session. I will offer you easy and natural poses and activities so you’re able to be yourselves and express your closeness in a real way.

Creative photo / videoshoot on a separate day

Its duration is 4 hours. We will pick locations that have artistic or sentimental value for you.

Aerial drone photography / videography

If the weather and zone regulations permit flight, I will take establishing aerial shots at the key locations of the event: church, outdoors civil ceremony (if you have it), the reception venue and the creative shoot location.

I will advise you whether the time allocated in the schedule permits me to fly the drone when we are figuring out the timetable.

If your wedding package includes the drone shots, but for some reason I can’t fly it, I will compensate you for this service – in full or partially depending on whether I haven’t been able to fly it anywhere or only on some of the important locations.

Music

The music I use requires a usage license which I pay for so that we can share the video online without risking it being blocked due to a copyright violation. I always pick a wide selection of songs (more than what I need for the highlight video) which fit the feelings I can convey with my work, based on my artistic style. I will share with you the whole song selection so you can approve it or weed out the songs that you prefer I don’t use.

The remaining song list gives me the necessary flexibility to pick the best ones and adapt them in a way that they fit optimally with the video.

If you have favourite songs that you crave to have in your video, I will adhere to your wish with the reminder that uploading it online may get it blocked.

Equipment

I use a professional grade cameras with proven reliability and the highest quality lenses. All of my cameras shoot simultaneously on two separate memory cards to ensure that the footage won’t be lost if one of the cards malfunctions. For the same reason I’m using two cameras at the same time. My camera gear is designed to endure harsh weather as well.

My equipment allows me shoot in dim light and to capture movie-like moments where the person in focus stands out clearly from the background.

From audio stand point I’m using a few separate microphones for the highest quality and pleasant listening. With the groom’s consent I hide a miniature microphone in his jacket’s inner pocket. For the best man’s speech I attach a second microphone to the one from the DJ or to the DJ’s mixer so I can capture the speech clearly.

If you’re planning on making marriage vows, it’s possible to put a discrete (and white) microphone under the bride’s dress so you can hear her voice more clearly. Sometimes the microphone on the groom’s jacket is not close enough for satisfying voice capture.

The second camera

For videography I mount the second camera on a tripod wherever it’s possible. It can capture a wide panoramic view which adds an interesting and alternative perspective. It also provides safety that I won’t miss recording an important moment if something prevents me from capturing it with my main camera (if someone stands suddenly in front of my lens at the last moment and I don’t have time to move).

For photography I carry the two cameras and alternate between them. I use two different lenses – one for wider views and another for closeups. This additionally ensures that even if something happens with one of the cameras (and both of its memory cards), you will have pictures from the whole wedding from the second camera.

Retainer

The retainer amounts to 50% of your chosen package’s value. If you need to cancel the booking, I will refund you if you inform me no later than 60 days before the wedding day.

Editing time

For video: the advertised editing time starts once I receive your confirmation of the approved music playlist.

Delivery of the photos / video(s)

You will be able to download the finished video(s) and photos via a link to a cloud storage, which I will send you over email.

If you choose the online gallery add-on, you will also be able to share the photos with your guests in a convenient way via a password protected gallery, published on www.stefansolakov.com. The gallery will be removed after 1 year.

You will receive the photos in two sizes – the original, suitable for printing a large album, and also in a reduced size, convenient for quick posting on social media. The photos with additional processing in black & white will also have a backup colorful version in a separate folder in case you don’t like the black and white version.

Saving the raw materials

I will save the unedited video clips and the raw photos for 15 days after I deliver the edited footage. I keep the edited footage safe for one year.

Can you request corrections?

If you don’t like a few moments from the videos I may be able to replace them with other fitting clips. Let me know before I delete the raw materials so I can seek an alternative shot.
